George Woods, age 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee.

Born on July 20, 1955, in New Madrid, Missouri, George was the son of Mattie Claudine and the late Aubery Woods. He was a kind and generous man whose warm personality and sense of humor made him a joy to be around. George never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh, and his caring heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

An avid fisherman, George found peace on the water with a fishing pole in his hand. Whether he was spending the day at his favorite fishing spot or simply enjoying time with those he loved, he treasured life's simple moments. Above all else, George loved his family deeply. They were the center of his world, and the memories they shared together will forever be cherished. His love, laughter, and unwavering devotion will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Georgia (Ben) Cooper; bonus children: Cheryl and Tracy Winsett; his mother, Mattie Claudine; his siblings, Rose Murphy, Jesse Woods, and Bobby Woods; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends who will continue to honor his memory.

George is reunited with his beloved wife, Karen Woods, and his father, Aubery Woods.

Though his presence will be deeply missed, the love George shared and the countless memories he created with those around him will remain in the hearts of those who loved him forever.
