Isaac Austin Davis

Isaac Austin Davis, age 93, passed away on January 27, 2024, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. Isaac was born on March 30, 1930, to the late Bennet Allen Davis and Isy Lee Downey Davis in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.

Austin attended school in Mt. Pleasant TN. After graduation, Isaac enjoyed the farm life. He worked several jobs before working in maintenance at General Electric and retiring after 15 years. GE is where he met his love and current wife Lynda Jean (Winchester) Davis whom he married on March 24, 1989.

Austin enjoyed traveling after retirement with Lynda seeing everything from the mountains to the beach. Always ready for an adventure, he loved to drive the countryside always looking for something new.

Austin was known for his craftsmanship and the love of his farm. He enjoyed “tinkering” in the shop, building and creating wooden crafts, and napping on his porch swing. His love of nature was known by many, and loved to plant trees every year anywhere he could find a place. Going to the “country” was his favorite thing to do, especially sharing the farm with his grandchildren.

Austin was very dedicated Church of Christ member, attending Locust Street Church of Christ, always at church praising his Lord and sharing his gospel with others. He was proud of his faith and was not afraid to share with those he loved. His kind heart and honest soul always eased those around him, knowing his commitment to the Lord would lead him to the greatest place one day, Heaven.

One of the biggest achievements in Isaac’s life was his family and the memories they all created and shared. Known to the family as “Papa”, he loved his children and his grandchildren with all his heart. He enjoyed sharing life stories, the farm life, and his love for Jesus Christ. He was always proud of all of his children and grandchildren, their achievements, and continuously encouraged each and every one to live each day to the fullest. He enjoyed rocking the babies in the family and taking good recliner naps.

Austin is survived by his wife Lynda of 35 years; Son Edwin Davis, Son Lane (Kim) Davis, Daughter Terri Bean, Son Carter (Melissa) Cheek, Son Scott (Amber) Cheek, and Kyle (Lynette) Cheek. Grandchildren Brandy (Coty) Rains, Kendall Davis, Cole Cheek, Emily Cheek, Alex Bean, Dakota (Rachel) Cheek, Carter Lee (Stephanie) Cheek, DJ (Rebecca) Losch, Sheyenne Cheek, Miranda Cheek, Kristin (Mike) Cummins, and Kourtney (Mike) Dale, and 13 great grandchildren, and brother-in-law Charlie (Michelle) Winchester.

Austin was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Mother-in-law Mary Dodson, and granddaughter Ashley Cheek.

The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, TN. The funeral service for Austin will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 2:00 PM with one hour of visitation prior. Services will be conducted by Dalton Cole, Austin’s Nephew. To follow, Austin will be laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons Cole Cheek, Carter Lee Cheek, Dakota Cheek, Alex Bean, DJ Losch, and Coty Raines. Honorary pallbearers Robert Jandreau, Mike Pruitt, Fletcher Lindsey, John Swaner, Carl Bridges, John Davis, Hendley Edwards, Jerry Atkinson, Steve Barr, Nicky Savage and Matt Dodge.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made In Austin’s honor to Locust Street Church of Christ Mt. Pleasant, TN or to plant a tree in his honor.
