James Carroll, age 89, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at Country Cottage in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. He was born on March 6, 1936, in Hohenwald, Tennessee, to the late Marshall and Virginia Carroll.
James was a man who loved the outdoors and could often be found enjoying yard work. He deeply loved his family and had a special bond with his animals. His gentle, steady nature left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Virginia Carroll; his beloved wife, Patricia Carroll; daughters, Debra Carroll and Linda Carroll; and siblings, Melvin Carroll, Lucille Holt, Edith Lammers, Alton “Big” Carroll, Walter “Cheat” Carroll, Dorthey DeVoy, Eva Dudley, Bill Carroll, and Jean Karcher.
James is survived by his children, James D. Carroll, Kathy (Tim) Cotton, and Theresia Lammers; grandchildren, Jenna Cotton, Kris Nobielski, and Tina (Jeremy) Garland; and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Chloe Lightener, and Rylee and Jase Garland. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will cherish his memory.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rodney Ashmore officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Garland, Caleb Lightener, Gary Carroll, Ronnie Carroll, Jimmy Dudley, and Danny Holt.
