James Douglas Cates, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 17, 2023. Born on June 12, 1943, to the late Homer and Louella Cates in Maury County, Tennessee, James cherished his 55-year marriage to the love of his life, Ruby Dean Agent Cates.

He also leaves behind eight beautiful great-grandchildren and a vast circle of friends.

A hardworking and genuine man, James was devoted to his family. He relished spending quality time and creating cherished memories with his grandchildren, especially those carefree days by the creek and the unforgettable pizza nights on weekends. One of James's greatest passions in life was wrestling. He was an avid fan who eagerly ordered wrestling matches on pay-per-view and gathered friends and family to watch them, sharing countless memorable moments until the time of his passing.

James's love for his wife Ruby was unparalleled, and their inseparable bond continued even after her passing in 2020.

In addition to Ruby, James is preceded in death by his siblings: Lorene Cates, Paul Cates, Lonnie B. Cates, and Betty Martin. His dedication to the Moon Pencil Company as a Machine Setup Technician for over 35 years reflects his commitment and strong work ethic.
