James Franklin Nelson, a devoted family man, hardworking entrepreneur, and beloved member of the community, passed away on August 31, 2023, in Columbia, Tennessee. He was born on August 9, 1929, in Giles County, Tennessee. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
James was a man of unwavering dedication and strong work ethic, a trait that was evident throughout his life. He was widely recognized within the contractor community for his impeccable Drywall business, where he consistently delivered high-quality craftsmanship. Remarkably, he continued to work diligently in his trade well into his early 80s, a testament to his unyielding determination.
Beyond his professional life, James was known for his genuine and caring nature. He deeply appreciated his neighbors and caregivers, forming lasting friendships with those who crossed his path. His warm smile and kind words brightened the lives of many.
James had a passion for sports that he shared with friends and family. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, faithfully following their journey on the gridiron. He also had a soft spot for the Atlanta Braves, and the thrill of a baseball game brought him joy throughout the years.
One of James's greatest loves was his loyal companion, his dog Doodlum. Together, they shared countless walks and cherished moments, forming a bond that brought immense comfort and happiness to his life.
James Franklin Nelson will be fondly remembered for his dedication to his work, his warm-heartedness, and his love for sports and furry friends. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and the importance of cherishing the moments we have with loved ones.
James is survived by his loving children: Barry Nelson, Larry Nelson, and Sandra Gibson; and grandchildren: Chase Gibson, Jennifer Rye; and Holly; and great-grandchildren: Courtney, Sadey, and Carley.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Polk Memorial Gardens at 12:30 in Columbia, Tennessee.
