Precious Jewell Spencer, age 84, passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2026, in Columbia, Tennessee.

Jewell was born to the late James and Effie Scott and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elvin Wade Spencer; her siblings Elizabeth “Sis” Burns, Nelson Scott, and Betty Lee Cates.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Marcia (Michael) Brady and Cindy (Jerry) Faulkner; her siblings Pauline Davidson, Wanda Fly, and James Scott. Jewell leaves behind a cherished legacy through her grandchildren: Jake (Jessica) Brady, Scotty (Aftan) Faulkner, Clayton (Rebecca) Brady, and Justin (Brandi) Faulkner, as well as her great-grandchildren Beckham, Mikayla, Emerson, Kelsey, McKinley, Avery, Madalyn, Kendall, Cambelle, and Mason. She is also fondly remembered by her special friends Dell Hines, Rachel Hanes, and Jean Thomason.

For 67 years, Jewell faithfully attended the Phillipi Church of Christ, where her devotion and quiet faith were a guiding presence throughout her life.

In her younger years, Jewell enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors. She later found a deep passion for painting, especially inspirational images and animals, expressing her creativity with great care and joy. A talented seamstress, she lovingly sewed many of the clothes her daughters wore, a testament to her devotion as a mother.

Jewell was the treasured babysitter to her grandchildren and great grandchildren—her pride and joy—and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was well known for her delicious chocolate cake and chocolate pie, a favorite among family and friends. Jewell also held a lifelong fascination with the Cherokee Indian tribe and the Great Smoky Mountains.

Jewell will be remembered for her creativity, devotion to family, gentle spirit, and the love she shared so freely. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Hope Mausoleum in Polk Memorial Gardens.
