J.R. Anderson

John Robert “J.R.” Anderson, age 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at NHC Maury in Columbia, Tennessee.

Born on November 17, 1938, in Maury County, Tennessee, J.R. was the son of the late Marvin E. Anderson and Pauline Kelly Anderson. On January 17, 1964, he married the love of his life, Jean Johnson. Together, they built a beautiful life grounded in faith, family, and hard work.

A lifelong resident of Maury County, J.R. found joy in the simple pleasures of life — working on his beloved farm, riding his tractor, and most of all, providing for and spending time with his family. He was known for his steadfast work ethic and generous spirit. His presence was a steady and reassuring force in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

J.R. was a devoted member of Arkland Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon and found fellowship and strength in his faith community.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean Anderson; daughter, Paula Beard; grandchildren, Victoria (Parker) Trulove and Steven Anders Beard; and siblings, Ronald Anderson and Margie Faye Morton.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Judith Lynn Anderson; his parents: Marvin E. and Pauline Kelly Anderson; and siblings, Marvin Wayne Anderson, Margaret Kelley, LeRoy Anderson, Henry Lee Anderson, and Shirley Runions.

Pallbearers will be Steven Anders Beard, Parker Trulove, Gary Shaw, Joey Sims, Paul Zimmerman, and Thomas Vick.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Arkland Church of Christ, Beverly Moore, Valerie Gant, and Johnny H. Thomas.

A funeral service to honor J.R.’s life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00 PM. J.R. will be laid to rest at Jones Cemetery in Columbia, Tennessee.

J.R.'s legacy of love, devotion, and hard work will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
