John Scott
Churchwell
Mar 22, 1955 — Jun 29, 2026
John Scott "Scott" Churchwell, 71, of Leoma, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Scott was born on March 22, 1955, in Columbia, Tennessee, to Warren "WJ" Churchwell and Joyce Churchwell, who preceded him in death.
Scott was a proud union electrician and retired member of the IBEW. Throughout his career, he had the opportunity to travel across Tennessee and throughout the country, helping build projects in communities near and far. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his trade.
Outside of work, Scott embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson, car racing, working on cars, collecting and shooting guns, fishing, and spending time outdoors. More than anything, he treasured time with his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life and brought him immeasurable joy. To them, he was affectionately known as the "Cookie Monster" because of his well-known love of sweets—a nickname that will forever bring smiles and cherished memories.
Scott will be remembered as a generous, hardworking, stubborn, and funny man who was always willing to lend a hand. His quiet acts of kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mamie Jean Churchwell; his children, Brannon Churchwell, Pamela Wiley (Keith), and Ricky Baker II; his grandchildren, Lexi McKennon (Cody), Jayden McKennon, Gage Churchwell, Skylar Baker, Jeremiah Hargrove, Addalaid Churchwell, Adriana Kelly, Carter Medrano, and Paisley Baker; his great-granddaughter, Addaleah Counts; and several nieces, nephews, and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren "WJ" Churchwell and Joyce Churchwell.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. Arrangements are being handled by Williams Funeral Home. In accordance with Scott's wishes, no formal services will be held.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Though he will be deeply missed, every ride down an open road and every sweet treat enjoyed in his honor will keep his memory alive.
