John Davis, age 95, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at NHC in Columbia, Tennessee. Born on December 30, 1929, to the late John Herbert Davis, Sr. and Elsie Mae Norman, John lived a full and impactful life rooted in service, faith, and deep community commitment.
A man strong in his faith, John was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, where he worshipped faithfully for many years. His belief in Jesus Christ guided every aspect of his life and was evident in the way he loved and served others.
John dedicated much of his life to public service in Maury County. He served on the Maury County Commission as Director of the Budget Committee, later continuing his political service in Mount Pleasant, where he proudly served as Vice Mayor. His leadership left a lasting mark on the community he loved so deeply.
Beyond politics, John was a long-time and proud member of the Mount Pleasant Lion’s Club. His greatest joy was serving underprivileged families and children—often obtaining $15,000 to $20,000 donations that impacted hundreds of young lives. His legacy of giving will be remembered by many.
John was also a 50-year Mason, a testament to his lifelong dedication to service and fellowship.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joy GayNell Davis; his sons, Randall and Gary Davis; his grandsons, Ryan Davis and Joshua Garried Davis; his brother, Jimmy Davis; and his sister, Katherine Horton.
He is survived by his son, Tim Davis; grandchildren, Wesley Davis, Logan Davis, Tattium Runions and Justin Davis; great-grandchildren, Weston Runions, Iver Runions, and one on the way; siblings, George Davis, Terry Wayne Davis, Mike Davis, and Judy Rogers; and special friend: Wanda Davidson.
A service to honor John’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, with Stephen Kelley officiating. Visitation with the family will take place the same day from 11:00 AM until the start of the service. John will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbia, Tennessee. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
John Davis will be remembered as a man of deep conviction, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to his family, faith, and community. His impact will be felt for generations to come.
