Rainney, John Alan of Columbia, TN went into the arms of Jesus on September 25,2025 peacefully at home surrounded by family. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 27th, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, TN, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, TN.
Alan was born on February 22, 1967, in Flint, MI to his parents John Arthur and Carla Sue Page Rainney. He had a rare disease called Klippel-Trenauney Syndrome, or KTS, which many medical professionals have never heard of. He always enjoyed telling his doctors how unique he was, and they were often amazed and even puzzled at times at his accomplishments and abilities throughout his life.
He overcame multiple health obstacles in his lifetime and was a fighter right up to the end. Alan joined the Boy Scouts of America, progressing through the ranks until he achieved the title of Eagle Scout like his father did. He graduated from Grand Blanc High School in Grand Blanc, MI, and showed a beautiful palomino gelding named Tequila in 4-H that same year. He enjoyed whitewater rafting, leather working, cars, listening to music, and his little dachshund Remy. He never wanted to miss a chance to get together with family and friends. Alan and his parents moved to Mt. pleasant, TN in 1998 and he took a job at the headquarters of Tennessee Farm Bureau Insurance in Columbia, TN where he met so many wonderful people in the 21 years of doing data entry and he was an inspiration to all that knew him.
Alan was preceded in death by his infant brother Steven Wesley, his maternal and fraternal grandparents.
He is survived by his parents, John and Carla Rainney of Mt. Pleasant, TN, sister Denise (David) Martindale of Columbia, TN, several aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Page, Chris Page, Steve Page, Tom Page, Rob Johnson, Matt Bryan and Carl Goad.
A special thank you to the numerous medical professionals who provided the utmost care for Alan over his lifetime. Thank you also to Compassus for their outstanding care and compassion during hospice.
