Kenneth Edward Tanner, a proud Army veteran, devoted husband, beloved father, and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025 at the age of 82.
He proudly served his country as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, carrying with him the values of courage, loyalty, and discipline throughout his life.
For the past 44 years, he was a loving husband to his wife, to whom he remained steadfast. Over the last six years, he cared for her selflessly, with a quiet strength and enduring love.
He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters, who brought endless pride and laughter into his life. Whether cheering on his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide, casting a line as an avid fisherman, or faith and grace with others, he embraced life with compassion, humor, and heart.
A faithful follower of Jesus, he walked in love, humility, and service, touching friend and family with his gentle spirit and unwavering devotion.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Ken is survived by his wife Patricia Tanner; daughter: Monteia (Robert) Moore of Athens, AL; granddaughters: Kenleigh Moore of Columbia, TN and Mikala Moore of Hermitage, TN, and great granddaughter: Charleigh Carpenter of Columbia, TN; sister: Jimmie Tanner (John) Haywood of Toney, AL; brother: Larry (Gaylia) Tanner of Woodville, AL; sister-in-law: Kaye White of Pensacola, FL; several nieces and nephews; and caregiver: Lisa Bearden. Ken is preceded in death by his brother Phillip Tanner, father Jimmy Tanner, and mother Evon Tanner.
A graveside service for Ken will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbia, Tennessee.
Post 19 will be rendering military honors for Kenneth at Polk Memorial Gardens.
