It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry W. Drumwright, who departed this world on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, in Columbia, Tennessee. Born on April 26, 1934, in Ripley, Tennessee, Larry was the sixth son of Williams Joseph Drumwright and Zelia Mae Newman Drumwright.
Larry's life was a testament to his unwavering devotion to his family and his boundless compassion for others. His heart of gold shone brightly through his selfless acts of care and love, leaving an indelible impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. A dedicated fan of UT Vols football, Larry's enthusiasm for the game was infectious, uniting friends and family in shared moments of joy and camaraderie.
For many years, Larry found solace and community as a faithful member of Grace Church of the Nazarene. His faith guided him, and his presence within the congregation was a source of inspiration and comfort to those around him.
Larry is survived by his son, Kenneth (Cathy) Drumwright, and daughter, Sharon Drumwright, both of whom he cherished deeply. He leaves behind his brother, Billy Joe Drumwright, who shared in his journey of life. Larry's legacy continues through his three beloved grandchildren: Leigh (Kevin) Lamb, Emily (Stephen) Garrett, and Abby (Robert) Newby, as well as his five cherished great-grandchildren: Braydon, Addison, Eleanor, Olivia, and Margaret.
Larry was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Georgia H. Drumwright, who passed in 1984. In his later years, he faced the sorrow of losing his second wife, Betty Adams Drumwright, who provided companionship and support during a later chapter of his life.
As we bid farewell to Larry W. Drumwright, let us remember the warmth of his smile, the kindness in his heart, and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to be part of his journey.
