On Saturday, February 24, 2018 the world became less vivid as Laura LaVerne Schulz left us to join her late husband, Michael Schulz.
Born in Detroit, Michigan to father Marshall Dent and mother Cora ‘Fitzsimmons’ Dent, Laura joined her older brother, Robert, to complete the Dent family in early December of 1952.
In the mid 1970s, Laura and Michael met and, with her son Joshua Schulz, they would begin a beautiful life story that would grow to include their daughter, Melissa Schulz, and eventually lead them to Tennessee where they grew to include Joshua’s wife, Virginia, and their two daughters, Brianna and Taylor, and son, Joshua Jr.
Laura was a beautiful woman in the purest sense. She was the most loving of mothers, a doting Nana, and the most supportive of wives. Laura loved adventure and travel! She went parasailing and scuba diving in Florida, hot air ballooning in Pigeon Forge, beheld the beautiful Canadian Falls of Niagara, graced the steps of the King’s home in Graceland, got lucky with the slots in Tunica, relived childhood wonder at the House of Mouse in Disney, and enjoyed a luxurious cruise to the Bahamas!
Laura and her husband Michael were the perfect pairing, both complementing and strengthening each other as they walked this Earth hand in hand. They now
continue that walk together, their love and laughter radiating through the hearts and minds of those they loved.
A celebration of Laura’s life will be held on March 9, 2018 at 4pm at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. The family will receive friends beginning at 3pm until service time.
