LaVerne Andersen

August 28, 1927 — August 16, 2025

Columbia, TN

Mrs. LaVerne Raining Andersen, age 97, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Morning Pointe Memory Care in Columbia, Tennessee.

Born in 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Meta and Armand Raining, LaVerne lived a long and full life marked by love, laughter, and deep devotion to her family and community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Paul Andersen.

LaVerne and Paul made their home in Jackson, Mississippi, for over six decades, where they raised their family and built lasting friendships. An avid golfer, LaVerne was a proud member of the Women’s Southern Golf Association of Mississippi. She and Paul shared a love for the game and spent many happy days playing courses across the South together.

She was also a faithful, long-time member of Christ United Jackson (formerly Christ United Methodist Church), where she found spiritual community and lifelong connection. In addition to her love of golf and church, LaVerne worked alongside her family at The Little Cobbler, the cherished family shoe store located in Highland Village.

In her earlier years, LaVerne attended the University of Missouri (Mizzou), where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, forming friendships that endured through the decades.

LaVerne is survived by her devoted daughter, Terri Andersen Ross (Jim), and her beloved grandchildren: Thomas Marx of Atlanta, GA; Andersen Marx (Gaelyn) of Seattle, WA; and Chris Marx of Charleston, SC. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in each of them.
