Linda Farris Barker, age 84, of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026.
Raised on Pisgah Ridge in Hampshire, Tennessee, Linda was the beloved daughter of the late Farris McAnally and Francis Beckenbach McAnally. She graduated from Hay Long High School in 1960 and carried the values of hard work, kindness, and resilience with her throughout her life.
On December 6, 1963, Linda married the love of her life, Gene Barker. Together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, faith, and family until Gene's passing in 2021.
Linda was a woman of quiet strength. She had a kind and caring spirit, paired with a determination that made her truly "tough as nails." She found joy in painting and expressing herself through art, leaving behind countless beautiful works that her family will treasure for years to come.
Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. Linda was a longtime member of Main Street Church of Christ and was an active member of Sandy Hook Church of Christ, where she found fellowship and lasting friendships.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving son, Mark (Brandy) Barker; her beloved grandchildren, Avery Barker and Jack Barker; her brother-in-law, Pat Hickman; her niece, Lynn Hickman; her cousin, Joey Gibson; and her special friends, Penne Floyd, Ella Whittaker, Lindsey Floyd, Teresa Nichols, Buzz Floyd, John Floyd, Bobby McGloffin, and Dr. Reams Powers.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Barker, and her dear friend, Jayne Whitwell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Buzz Floyd, John Floyd, Joey Gibson, Bobby McGloffin, Paul Keltner, Kyle Thomas, Jack Barker, Pat Hickman, Billy Rochelle, David Edwards, and the members of Sandy Hook Church of Christ.
A graveside service to celebrate Linda's life will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at Arlington Cemetery, with the family visiting with friends and family beginning at 12:00 PM.
Linda's gentle heart and enduring love for those around her will be remembered always. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
