Linda Jean Garbarina, 77, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on August 19, 2026, at Sumner Regional Medical Center following several weeks of illness.

Linda was born on October 29, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, to Bob P. and Myra Perry Garbarina. A few years later, the family moved to Columbia, where Linda would make her home for the rest of her life.

A 1966 graduate of Columbia Central High School, Linda went on to become part of the very first class at Columbia State Community College when the college opened its doors in the fall of 1966. On June 7, 1968, she proudly became one of the college’s first 44 graduates, earning an Associate of Science degree in Business. Following graduation, Linda began working for Malcolm Sprinkle at Confidential Loan, where she served as office manager.

Linda had a tender heart for animals and found great joy in the simple beauty of nature. She especially loved the hummingbirds that visited her yard and faithfully cared for the many animals that lived and played there.

Among those closest to her heart was Gracie, her beloved dog and most loyal companion. Gracie brought Linda immeasurable comfort and companionship, along with plenty of love and entertainment.

Linda is survived by many cousins, special friends, and the dear friends with whom she grew up in her Columbia neighborhood. The friendships she carried throughout her life were a lasting reflection of the community she called home for so many years.

A graveside service honoring Linda’s life will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Maury County Animal Shelter or the American Cancer Society- Breast Cancer Fund in Linda’s memory.

Williams Funeral Home is honored to serve the Garbarina family and Linda’s friends. Condolences may be shared at www.williamsfh.com.
