Elizabeth “Lizzie” Powers, age 64, passed away on August 7, 2026, at her home in Santa Fe, Tennessee. She was born on November 9, 1961, in Baltimore, Maryland, to James Dotson and Flora Dotson.

Lizzie was a humble, kindhearted woman who carried a positive spirit through life. She had a deep appreciation for the simple things and found happiness in the beauty of the world around her. An animal and nature lover, Lizzie especially enjoyed spending time on her porch, watching the birds and squirrels and taking in all the little creatures that wandered by. She had a gentle heart for animals of every kind and found peace simply being surrounded by nature.

Above all else, Lizzie loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and the time she shared with those she loved meant more to her than anything. Her kindness, humility, and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Lizzie is survived by her children, Joseph Sonnier, Misty Sonnier, Cathy Sonnier and Christie Greenleaf; grandchildren, Ashlee (Timmy) Ensley, Kaylee Miller, Skylee Sonnier, Jenalee Sonnier, Joseph Sonnier, Jr., Elizabeth Carpenter, Bradly Carpenter, Jr., and Neveah Darling; great-grandchildren, Madison Ensley and Kehlani Miller; siblings, Sandra Ervin (Joseph), Janice Teeples (Darral), Ricky Bishop (Lauren), and Diana Denice “Becky” Ring (David); as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She is reunited with her parents, James and Flora Dotson; siblings, Doris Johnson and Barbara Potts; and her husband, Claude Barnes “Taz.”

A service for Lizzie will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the start of the service at Williams Funeral Home. Lizzie will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens.
