Martha Helen Sims Davis, or Helen Davis, age 80 of Lewisburg, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2026. Born on May 29, 1945, she was the beloved daughter of the late Edgar Watt Sims and Nancy Eugenia McConnell Sims.

She was from Marshall County, particularly Mooresville. Her family, the McConnells, moved there on a land grant given for Manuel McConnell's fighting in the Revolutionary War. This was so long ago that Tennessee was a part of North Carolina. Helen was the last of her family who had lived in the community so long.

She is survived by her daughter Susanne Whitlock and son-in-law Robb Whitlock; her grandchildren are: Joshua Whitlock, Stephen Whitlock, Timothy Whitlock, Olivia (Andrew) LaMott, and Alexandria Whitlock; and her great-grandchildren: Abigail LaMott, Isaac LaMott, and Gideon LaMott.

After graduating from Marshall County High School in 1963, she studied sociology at Columbia State Community College. She went on to work as an aide with special needs children for the Marshall County School System Transportation Department, a role she held for twenty years until her retirement in May 2024.

Outside of work, for years she was a familiar face at the local pound, where she volunteered her time rescuing animals. She had a deep, lifelong bond with dogs and always considered them her most faithful companions. She also enjoyed hunting for deals for people she cared about. It thrilled her heart to show love by giving the perfect gift to someone else.

She is at peace now, experiencing the love and acceptance of Jesus. She is free from the burdens of this world and has been wholeheartedly welcomed by her loved ones in heaven. A celebration of life service will be held to honor her on the morning of May 23, 2026, at 11:00 at Lascassas Community Church. She will have a private burial afterward at Bryant Cemetery in Lewisburg, TN.
