Mary Josephine Henson, lovingly known as Josephine, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center. She was born on November 29, 1948, in Maury County, Tennessee, to the late James Earl Johnson and Myrtle Lucille Allen Johnson.
Josephine was a woman with an exceptionally big heart, always putting others before herself and helping anyone in need. She was known for her kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit, and she truly loved her family like no other. To her grandchildren, she was the best “Ahmama” they could have ever asked for—one who offered unconditional love, endless encouragement, and a comforting presence that made everything feel right.
Family meant everything to Josephine. She took great pride in her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her life was a beautiful reflection of the love she poured into those around her. She was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Josephine found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved watching her favorite show, Gunsmoke, and had a special fondness for Kansas City Chiefs Football. She also enjoyed watching red birds, often pausing to admire them and the peace they brought her. These quiet moments reflected her gentle nature and appreciation for the beauty in everyday life.
She shared a wonderful life with her devoted husband, Larry Wayne Henson, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for one another.
Josephine’s legacy lives on through her husband, Larry Wayne Henson; her daughter, Susan Renee Henson (Robby) McKennon; her granddaughters, Hannah Josephine (Randy) Brooks and Alexis Renee (Justis) Bishop; her treasured great-grandsons, Everett Clifton Brooks and Mason Wyatt Brooks; and her siblings, Bill (Vivian) Johnson, Sarah (Claude) Luckett, and Sue (David) Clayton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Norma Jean Johnson Henson and Robert “Bubba” Johnson.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. A service to celebrate and honor Josephine’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens.
