Mary Alice
Hill
Aug 18, 1950 — Jun 19, 2026
Mary Alice Hill, age 75, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026. Born on August 18, 1950, in Hazard, Kentucky, she was the cherished daughter of the late Bill Noble and Sally Sizemore Noble.
Some people leave an impression the moment they walk into a room, and Mary Alice was one of those people. Though small in stature, she possessed a larger-than-life personality and a strength that could not be measured. She was a woman who faced life head-on, never afraid of hard work, never backing down from a challenge, and always determined to take care of whatever needed to be done.
Mary Alice had a quick wit, an ornery streak, and a wonderful sense of humor that could turn an ordinary moment into one filled with laughter. She had a way of telling it like it was, often with a mischievous smile and a perfectly timed joke. Those who knew her best understood that beneath her tough exterior was a heart overflowing with love and loyalty.
Her journey carried her from the hills of Kentucky to the neighborhoods of Chicago, where she successfully managed local bars and earned the respect of everyone she encountered. She was strong, independent, and dependable, the kind of person people turned to when they needed someone they could trust. Mary Alice believed in hard work, and she built a life that reflected her determination and resilience.
Yet some of her happiest moments were found in the simple joys of home. She loved working in her yard, tending her flowers and garden with pride and patience. She appreciated the traditions of a simpler time, and a clothesline full of freshly washed laundry was often found swaying in the breeze outside her home. To Mary Alice, these small moments were not chores; they were expressions of care, comfort, and love.
The true center of her world, however, was her family. Her kitchen was the gathering place where stories were shared, laughter echoed, and memories were made. Whether she was serving her famous meatloaf, lasagna, coconut cake, or a hearty breakfast prepared with love, everyone knew they were welcome at her table. No one ever left hungry, and no one ever left wondering whether they were loved. Caring for others came naturally to Mary Alice. She gave freely of herself, always putting family and friends before her own needs, and finding joy in seeing those she loved cared for and happy.
She leaves behind a family who will forever carry her love in their hearts: her children, TJ Hill and Steve Hill; her bonus son, Jason Baker; her grandchildren, Tiffany (Greg) Mazza, Steve (Leslie) Hill, and Tim Hill; and her eight treasured great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Laura Noble; her nephews, Jamie (Priscilla) Kennedy, Jason Kennedy, Michael Hill, and Jason Hill; her sister-in-law, Julie Hill; her brother-in-law, Phillip Hill; and many other relatives and dear friends whose lives were made richer by knowing her.
Mary Alice was welcomed into eternity by her beloved husband, her parents, and siblings: Alex Noble, Barbara Astor, Bruce Harlis, Logan Noble, and John Henry Noble.
Mary Alice's story is one of resilience, devotion, humor, and heart. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the lives of her family and friends for generations to come.
