Born on December 17, 1951, in Hampshire, Tennessee, Hopper was a well-loved and respected member of his community. His legacy of hard work, unwavering independence, and boundless love for his family and friends will forever be cherished.
Hopper was a man of incredible work ethic, a trait he wore with pride throughout his life. He was known for his dedication to his tasks and his commitment to providing for those he loved. His significant other, Hazel, held a special place in his heart, and he was an amazing caretaker, ensuring her comfort and happiness with unwavering devotion.
Never one to ask for help, Hopper's fierce independence was matched only by his willingness to give. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need, embodying the true spirit of selflessness. He had a heart as vast as the Tennessee sky, a heart that loved deeply and unconditionally.
Hopper found immense joy in his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was playing games, sharing stories, or simply watching them grow. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his beloved Hazel Jones, his devoted daughter Angelia Roberts (Tom), stepsons Daniel Jones, Jr. (Claudia), Ronnie Jones, and Doug Jones (Dawn). His memory lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Keifer Roberts, Ashley, Sarah, Selena, Chelsea, Ryan, and Nathan Jones, Destinee Hayes, DJ Barber, Sara Semran, and Ryan Davis-Barber. He is also survived by his sister Gayle Shelden and six great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love he shared.
Hopper was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Monroe Vaughn, Sr., and Annie Mae Vaughn, as well as his siblings: Francis Givens, Bud Brewer, Roy Vaughn, Lou Rochelle, and Betty Cothran. His loyal and loving companion, his precious pup Bubba, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge with him.
To celebrate the life of Monroe "Hopper" Vaughn, Jr., a gathering of friends and family will take place on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Hampshire First Baptist. A heartfelt celebration of his life will follow at 5:00 PM at the same location. This is an opportunity for all those who knew and loved Hopper to come together, share memories, and honor the indelible mark he left on our lives.
