Mrs. Opaline Wilson, age 89, of Culleoka, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on June 16, 2026.
Born on August 1, 1936, in Cullman, Alabama, Opaline was the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrue League.
Opaline was a woman of great kindness, compassion, and generosity. She found joy in helping others and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her family was the greatest blessing in her life, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. Some of her favorite moments were spent outdoors camping, enjoying days on the boat, and making memories with those she loved.
She enjoyed splitting her time between Michigan and Tennessee, allowing her to remain close to family and friends in both places she called home. Opaline also loved going out to eat, sharing meals with loved ones, and treating herself to a scoop of ice cream whenever she could.
A dedicated and hardworking woman, Opaline worked as a retail associate for Sears at the Genesee Valley Mall in Flint, Michigan, where she faithfully served for 16 years. She was baptized in Flint, Michigan, and remained devoted to her faith throughout her life, regularly attending church both in Michigan and Alabama.
Opaline was married twice during her lifetime. She shared many years with her first husband, Bobby James, until his passing. She later married Harold Wilson.
She is survived by her children, Terry James of Pulaski, Tennessee, Charles James of Blountsville, Alabama, Janice Weston of Davison, Michigan, and Connie James of Culleoka, Tennessee; her sister, Wilma Ballew of Cullman, Alabama; her brother, Jerry League of Alabama; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many other beloved relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Gertrude League; her first husband, Bobby James; and her second husband, Harold Wilson.
A service to celebrate Opaline's life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 PM.
Though she will be deeply missed, Opaline's legacy of love, faith, kindness, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
