Timothy Boyd “Otis” Bailey, age 59, passed away on January 18, 2026, at Mount Pleasant Health and Rehab.
He was born on December 8, 1966, in Columbia, Tennessee, to the late Paul Bailey and Mary Sue Hust Bailey.
Otis was a simple man who found joy in life’s quiet moments. He enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was able, but most of all, he loved spending time with his friends. He was easygoing, kind-hearted, and will be remembered for his love of companionship and the simple pleasures of life. He also worked as a truck driver for many years at Mealer Trucking.
He is survived by his loving sisters: Paula (Billy) Dyer of Hohenwald, Tennessee; Kim Smith of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee; and Pam Musgrove of Goodspring, Tennessee; his children: Courtney (John) Smith of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; Nicole (Gilbert) Rivera of Mineral Wells, Texas; Chelsea Briggs of Cross Plains, Texas; and T.J. Bailey of Knoxville, Tennessee.; grandchildren include Hunter, Gage, and Jordan Clayton of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; Luna Rae Rivera of Mineral Wells, Texas; Tucker Bridge of Cross Plains, Texas; and Wren Marie Bailey Cox of Knoxville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren: David and Walker Clayton of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.
He is also survived by his half-sisters: Brenda Risner of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, and Gayle Patterson of Alabama; half-brother: Gary Bailey of Summertown, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Otis is preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Timothy “Porkey” Smith and Mark Musgrove; his maternal grandparents, Rollie and Margaret Hust; his paternal grandparents, Boyd and Willie Bailey; and several aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers will be Mike “Spike” Spears, Jake Walker, Anthony Mattox, Terry Norwood, Phillip Foster, and Donald Wiseman.
A graveside service for Otis will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Summertown Cemetery in Summertown, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made directly to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
