87 wonderful years young. Grandmother loved Dolly Parton, red lipstick, black hair dye, salt, stopping mid-route to dance on the school bus, giving grandbabies a sinkbath, making chicken and dumplings, 31 candles on her birthday cake, having her own tire changer, gathering her whole family together for special moments with a meal fit for a king, and dressing her husband Franklin for church every Sunday morning. She faithfully loved him for seventy years. Together they enjoyed traveling to the mountains, driving school buses, watching westerns, changing tires, regularly meeting friends at local restaurants, and having spats so they could kiss and make up. They just enjoyed being together, and you rarely saw them apart.
She dropped everything for a friend or family member in need of her help, whether they knew they needed her or not. She was fiesty. She was a loyal sister to her nine siblings and loved nothing more than a big gathering of the whole crew with singing, buck-dancing, and occasionally standing on top of a table to get everyone's attention. She and her loving husband raised six children: Terrell (and wife Teresa), Connie (and her late husband Paul), Danny (and wife Anita), Tommy (and wife Patsy), Eddie (and wife Shelia), and Shelley (and husband Marty). She doted over 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
More than all of this, she loved her Lord. She worshipped Him faithfully with the Five Points Church of Christ where she sang beautiful alto, occasionally switching to "fa-sol-la" if she didn't know the words to the song. Up until the very end she sang praises to Him, reminding us all that "God is so good." She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family while holding her husband's hand.
