Columbia

Ronald Keith Beck, known lovingly as “Ron” to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, at LifeCare Center in Columbia, Tennessee. He was 73 years old.

Born on November 1, 1951, in Cleveland, Tennessee, Ron was the son of the late Kenneth and Cecile Toy Duke Beck. A devoted man of God, Ron was a steady, loving presence in the lives of all who knew him. He was a member of Graymere Church of Christ and a proud participant in both the Rotary Club and Kiwanis, always seeking ways to serve his community and live out his faith in action.

Ron lived a life grounded in integrity, dedication, and deep love for his family. A proud father and husband, he was actively involved in his sons' lives and set a powerful example of what it meant to be a devoted parent. He was a provider in every sense of the word—steadfast, generous, and wise. Though he had a serious nature, Ron loved to joke and bring smiles to those around him.

A lifelong learner, Ron valued education immensely. He graduated from Cleveland High School, then went on to earn degrees from Cleveland State Community College and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, before completing his master’s degree at Vanderbilt University. His passion for knowledge extended into his career, where he excelled in leadership roles and left a lasting impact.

Ron’s professional journey included two years in Europe with Graftech International, working in Switzerland, France, and Spain. He also served as Assistant Plant Manager for UCAR Corporation. Later in life, he found great fulfillment in education, retiring as Workforce Development Director from Columbia State Community College, where he continued to mentor and teach employees across other college locations.

In addition to his many accomplishments, Ron was a lifelong sports fan and never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite teams.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sherry Beck; his two sons, Gavin (Cynthia) Beck and Philip Beck; grandson: William Beck; and his brother, Terry (Delores) Beck.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff of LifeCare Center in Columbia—especially Brenda, Mary, and Kaliegh—as well as hospice nurses Hannah and Amy King, for the care and comfort they provided to Ron and his family during his final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Ron's name to the Maury County Animal Shelter. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Ron will be remembered for his unwavering faith, commitment to family, love of learning, and the legacy of strength, kindness, and humor he leaves behind.
