Ruby Joyce Scruggs Moore, age 81, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Ruby leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and laughter.
Born to Spurgeon and Beatrice Taylor, Ruby was one of several siblings raised with strong values and a deep appreciation for family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Howard Scruggs; and her dear sisters Marilyn (William) Lamar, Willomae (Jimmy) Hamilton, and Geraldine (Carson) Burgess.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Owen Moore; loving daughter, Tammy (Randy) Driver; cherished granddaughter, Cassie (Josh) Cornwell; stepson, Scotty (Denise) Moore and their children; and siblings Wanda (Jimmy) Bean and Lynn Taylor; special cousin, Mary Della Crabtree. Her family was her heart, and she treasured the time spent gathered with them—sharing evening meals, rotating homes, and creating lasting memories rooted in closeness and care.
At the tender age of 12, Ruby was saved by the grace of God at Riggs Chapel Baptist Church in Harriman, Tennessee, where she was baptized in the Emory River (which was across the road.) Her faith remained her foundation throughout life. Later, she became an active and joyful member of Southside Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, where she sang in the choir and lovingly cared for others. Known for her giving heart, she often delivered home-cooked meals and handmade fruit baskets to friends who were homebound or in need.
Ruby lived by the belief that if you do the right thing, the Lord will take care of the rest. She was a hard worker with a mischievous streak, a sharp wit, and a generous spirit. She delighted in making people laugh, often through lighthearted jokes and playful antics.
Among Ruby's many joys was her granddaughter, who never failed to bring a radiant smile to her face. She also found great pleasure in vacationing in the Great Smoky Mountains, where she never missed a chance to stop by a donut shop along the way.
Ruby's life was a beautiful reflection of compassion, humor, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee.
