Sandra Diane Finerty Matthews, age 64, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at NHC Columbia. A native of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Robert Ollie Finerty and Lena Mae Dugger Finerty.

Sandra found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed drawing and painting, playing games on her phone, watching The Andy Griffith Show, and joining a good game of bingo, where her playful competitive streak often came through. She was also a remarkably talented singer who loved sharing her voice with others.

Above all, Sandra will be remembered for her big and giving heart. She loved unconditionally and was always willing to help others in any way she could. Her laughter, warm spirit, and ability to make those around her laugh brought happiness to many. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of generosity, joy, and love.

Sandra is survived by her three sons, Matthew Christopher McDonald, Zachary Eugene Matthews, and Nathaniel Harney; siblings, Helen McMullin, Lynn (Mike) Lovett, and Larry Finerty; sister-in-law, Gail Finerty; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Lynn; siblings, Nettie Gibson, James Finerty, Freda Coats, Ricky Finerty, and Darlene Chapman; nephews, Chris Finerty, Timmy Finerty, and Steve Bearden; and niece, Christie Chapman.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Devin Massey, Dylan Massey, Darrell Nabors, Teddy Finerty, Gene McGregor, Scottie Finerty, Robby Finerty, and Michael Lovett. All of Sandra’s nieces and nephews, as well as the compassionate caregivers of NHC Columbia and Caris Hospice, will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning two hours prior to the service. Sandra will be laid to rest following the service at Arlington Cemetery.
