Sarah Jane Pickett, age 78, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.
Born in 1947 to Thomas and Margie Whitley, Jane was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, who she held close in her heart throughout her life.
Jane is survived by her loving siblings: Edna (Kenneth) Copley, Patricia (Robert) Capps, Norris Whitley, Billy Whitley, and Nancy (Ronald) Whitley. She also leaves behind several cherished nieces and nephews who brought her great joy.
A woman of simple pleasures and deep heart, Jane found comfort and happiness in life’s quieter moments. She had a deep love for gospel and country music, often filling her home with the songs that brought her peace. Her hands were rarely still—her talent for crochet was a gift to those lucky enough to receive one of her handmade pieces.
A former student of Riverside Elementary School. She took great pride in decorating her home and creating a warm, welcoming space for family and friends. Her faithful dog was her constant companion, and the two shared a special bond that brought her immeasurable comfort and love.
No one enjoyed a good meal more than Jane, and her favorite treat—chicken legs from KFC—was always a welcome delight.
Sarah Jane Pickett will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her creative hands, and the quiet kindness she extended to those around her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Columbia Williams Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m., with burial at Polk Memorial Gardens.
