Sean McCarthy

John "Sean" McCarthy, age 76, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, at Maury Regional Medical Center. Born on November 19, 1948, in San Rafael, California, he was the eldest of seven children born to the late John F. McCarthy Sr. and Ursula Mulligan McCarthy.

Sean lived a rich and vibrant life defined by service, adventure, and dedication to community. As a veteran, he served his country during the Vietnam War before returning home and becoming a passionate advocate for peace. In 1975, he found his place in The Farm community, embracing a life rooted in simplicity, hard work, and connection to the land.

He was a true jack of all trades—always ready to lend a hand or learn something new—but his greatest passion was soccer. For decades, he devoted himself to the sport as a referee, sharing his love of the game with players of all ages, from local youth leagues to international tournaments.

Sean's life was deeply enriched by the love he shared with his wife, Pat McCarthy. Together for over 45 years, their bond was strong, filled with laughter, resilience, and countless adventures. He is also survived by his stepson, Andrew (wife: Elizabeth) Schmidt, whom he cared for deeply.
