February 21, 1950 – March 30, 2026
Susan Hannah Puckett, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026 at the age of 76. Sue was born on February 21, 1950 and lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and unwavering integrity. She dedicated her career to Tennesseans with special needs as a program coordinator at Cloverbottom and as a classroom teacher, shaping the lives of countless children and adults with patience, wisdom, and compassion. Beyond the classroom, Sue was an active member of her community and found great joy in volunteering with the Lions Club, ADK, and serving on the board of her daughter's group home. She was always eager to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. Sue was an invaluable member of the General Federation of Women's Club of Maury County, serving as its vice-president since 2024. She organized "Paula's Purse", named in honor of her daughter, Paula Potter. "Paula's Purse" provides free purses, bags, and personal hygiene items to girls entering middle school. Sue joined the Lions Club (Columbia Club) in 2014. She became a charter member of The Columbia United Lions Club in 2017 and has served as president, secretary, and treasurer. She received the Lions Club International President's Certificate of Appreciation earlier this year. Sue initiated "Christmas Star", a free festival held each December for special-needs children and their families.
Sue was married for 48 years to her loving husband, Avery Lanning Puckett, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories, love, and devotion. Sue was preceeded in death by her parents, Porter and Phyllis (Wade) Hannah, her sister, Carol (Don) Rutledge, and her husband, Avery Puckett. She is survived by her children; Leland Wade Puckett (Nathalie) and Paula Potter, her brothers-in-law; Donald Rutledge and David (Linda) Puckett, and her grandchildren; Hannah Lafever (Jacob), Brandon Pameticky, Austin Pameticky, Hallie Lane Puckett, Carley Pameticky (Will), and Madeline Puckett. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren; Evan Lafever, Ryan Lafever, Wade Lafever, and Whitley Teegarden, who brought her endless joy.
Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in watching it grow through the generations. She will be remembered as a woman of deep integrity, the most generous and kind-hearted soul, and someone who touched the lives of all who knew her. Her warmth, strength, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
