Tanya Ann Patterson Kessinger, 69, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on August 7, 2025, at Maury Regional Medical Center. She was born on December 6, 1955, in Odessa, Texas, to the late Leonard and Jo Ann Cole Patterson.
Tanya was married to the love of her life, Terry Kessinger, for nearly 50 years. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters and built a full and loving life. While living in New Mexico, Tanya had the unique and memorable experience of raising baby chimpanzees—an example of her lifelong instinct to nurture.
A caregiver at heart, Tanya’s dedication shone through in both her home and career. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse, providing compassionate care to children and infants in home health, all while ensuring her own family was deeply loved and cared for.
Creative and crafty, Tanya enjoyed crocheting and making things with her hands. She was also strong in her Christian faith, which guided her through life and inspired those around her.
She is survived by her husband, Terry; daughters, Melody Allen and Michelle Kessinger; grandchildren, Brittney Boykin, Charlie Allen, Aubrey Allen, and Jonah Villarreal; and sister, Toni Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David Patterson.
Tanya will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the many lives she touched through her care and love.
