Culleoka

Thomas "Tom" McCuiston, of Culleoka, Tennessee, a devoted husband, loving brother, father, and cherished “Bopa” to his nine grandchildren, died on August 23, 2023, at the age of 71. He was born on October 18, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, to Earl Porter McCuiston and Ida Maude (Henry) McCuiston.

Tom was hardworking and loyal. For three decades, he took pride working as a car hauler alongside his brother, Gary, and father-in-law, Wilford Wilson, who gave him the C.B. radio handle “Son-In-Law.”

Throughout their 50 years of marriage, Tom and Dianne created a beautiful life together. They delighted in the beauty of God’s creation: fishing, bird watching, canoeing, riding Tom’s motorcycle, and gazing at the Heavens through his telescope.

Tom had many interests and talents. He mastered the art of woodworking, building bird houses, guitar stands, and beautiful furniture and serving pieces. He even helped build the house where he and Dianne raised their three children, in Hillsdale, Michigan. He could also fix almost anything. He taught himself to play guitar, which he used to serenade his bride, entertain his friends, children and grandchildren, and to praise his Savior.

Most importantly, Tom loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength. He was an active member of Maury Hills Church in Columbia for 15 years, serving as an elder for 10 years. Before moving to Tennessee, he taught the adult Sunday school class, led singing, and served as a deacon at West Street Church of Christ in Hillsdale, Michigan, for decades. He was a learned, but humble, Bible scholar. His faith in Jesus Christ was unwavering, a true inheritance for his family.

Tom leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, love, and faith. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbors, and all who were privileged to know him. As we say goodbye for now, let us honor him for the remarkable man he was, cherish his memory, thank God for the time we enjoyed with him, and eagerly await the day we are reunited with him for eternity.

Tom’s legacy lives on in his wife, Theresa “Dianne” McCuiston, who was the love of his life; Children: Erin (David) Robertson of Pulaski, Tennessee, Jason (Angie) McCuiston of Frisco, Texas, and Ryan (Jennifer) McCuiston of Vinemont, Alabama; Grandchildren, who were his greatest joy: Nolan, Thomas, and Celeste Robertson, Henry, Edie, and Adagri “A.J.” McCuiston, and Ian, Madelyn, and Coleman McCuiston. Tom is also survived by his five siblings: Joan (Arthur “Art” - deceased) Schram, Mary (Ronald “Jack”) Henson, Larry McCuiston, Gary (Donna) McCuiston, and Greg (Jen) McCuiston, and their children and grandchildren.

Proverbs 13:22: A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.
